Samsung Galaxy Note9: Faster and with more Storage Space

The Samsung Galaxy Note9 is the long-awaited successor to the Note8. A high-end smartphone with impressive specs such as better battery life, faster performance and a lot of storage capacity.

Samsung today announced the successor to the Galaxy Note8 in New York: the Samsung Galaxy Note9. The device has received a number of significant hardware updates compared to its predecessor.

Galaxy Note9

Although the Galaxy Note9 has the same display specs as its predecessor, the processor has been updated to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 / Samsung Exynos 9810. This makes the device a lot faster. The RAM has also been expanded for a faster user experience: in addition to the 6GB, there is now also an 8GB version. The standard storage capacity is also larger, you can choose from a 128GB and 512GB version with the black variant of the device. You can expand the memory even further with a 512GB micro SD card, allowing you to store even more photos and video material.

Better battery

One of the most important updates is the improvement of the battery life of the Galaxy Note9. From a capacity of 3300mAh in the Note8, the Galaxy Note9 gets a battery of a whopping 4000mAh. In addition, it has a Quick Charge 4.0 functionality, which allows the device to charge even faster.

Just like the Galaxy S9, the Galaxy Note9 will soon be available in Midnight Blue; a deep dark blue color with a sort of metallic effect. If you don't like colors, the Note9 is also available in black. New is the fact that the characteristic S Pen is also given a color: canary yellow. This is only the case with the Midnight Blue version.

S Pen with new functions

The same S Pen also has a few new features. For example, it has now also been expanded with Bluetooth, so that you can, for example, operate the camera of your Galaxy Note9 remotely. You can also use the S Pen as a clicker during presentations. The possibilities of the new S Pen with Bluetooth will be further expanded in the near future thanks to regular software updates.

12 megapixel dual camera

Just like the Galaxy Note8, the Galaxy Note9 also has a double 12 megapixel camera on the back of the device. This way you can take the sharpest photos with a beautiful depth-of-field effect. Samsung cameras also all have so-called night vision, with which you can take extra good photos in the dark. Certainly when recording concerts, for example, you can shoot the most beautiful images with this. With the 8MP selfie cam on the front of the device, you can also take the best high-quality photos.

The fastest way to unlock your Galaxy Note9 is with a fingerprint scanner. On the device, it has been moved to the back of the device, directly below the camera. This ensures that you can unlock your device faster and easier.

This is what makes the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + so special

During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona,   Samsung unveiled two new smartphones: the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 +. But what makes the Samsung Galaxy S9 and its bigger brother so special?

What is special about the Galaxy S9 +, among other things, is the dual camera lens of 12 megapixels on the back. Thanks to different apertures of f / 1.5 and f / 2.4, these lenses should perform better in low light. By opening up a diaphragm more light enters. If it is dark, then the light that is present is used as much as possible to take a nice photo.

These types of techniques are used in SLR cameras, for example, where the aperture can be adjusted manually. On the smartphone, however, this must happen automatically, and that is now the case with the Samsung S9.

The camera also has a super slow motion function. This allows you to make a short video of 960 frames per second. In real time, the video length is limited to shots of approximately 0.2 seconds. Those images are then slowed down to a maximum of 6 seconds.

AR Emoji

Also special are the AR Emoji on the two devices. The idea is that the camera records your head movements and then applies them to an emoji. This gives you an emoji that moves with the movements you make. Apple previously introduced a similar concept, the Animoji, on the iPhone X.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 also has an AMOLED screen of 5.8 inches with a resolution of 2,960 by 1,440 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy S9 + has a slightly larger AMOLED screen, namely 6.2 inches. The resolution is the same. Both devices will initially only be available with a storage capacity of 64 GB. Later this year there will also be a variant with 256 GB.
